UNFAVOURITES #1

Saturday, 13 February 2016

Hey loves! Bit of a negative post for you here today...an unfavourites! I wanted to do a little something different to the usual monthly favourites, so I thought I'd start an unfavourites series. I try a lot of new products, and shock horror...I don't actually like them all! Some of these might work really well for you, but personally, they kinda suck.

First up: Garnier's Ultimate Anti-Cellulite Oil. Like most cellulite products on the market, this is a total gimmick. Like most cellulite products on the market, I can't help myself trying it. I stuck with this for a good few weeks but all it did was make my legs greasy and smell a bit funny. Not ideal. I don't even know why an oil would work...but whatever. I will admit I'm trying a new firming lotion from Soap and Glory and I do really like that, and it's a bit more believable...but I'll post on that later!

To the right is the Revlon Photoready primer. This is a balm and it firstly feels really nice. I liked the packaging too. But it smells like hairspray? I'm still baffled by this. It's literally like hairspray scent central. It makes no sense. And it's super hard to apply because it's a hard balm, not to mention digging your fingers into it everyday makes it all fluffy and unhygienic and gross. Technicalities aside, it also doesn't really do anything for my skin, like most drugstore primers.

I recently picked up this MUA Pro-Base Prime & Conceal...palette? in a haul I posted on here. It's super cheap, so I wasn't expecting a lot. It's really creamy, but not very pigmented, and kind of just blends out into nothingness - and not in the good, oh, my red Rudolph nose is GONE! kind of way. In the, oh, my red Rudolph nose is EVEN REDDER, kind of way. You feel me?

I'm really upset to be including this in an unfavourites. I really love Soap and Glory skincare, but their make up remover is really bad. Well, not really bad. It just doesn't take off your makeup very well. I had to go at my skin 3 or 4 times to get a fresh face, which is a shame, because I love the feel of it and the packaging. If you don't wear a lot of makeup though, this would be good for you!

To the left is a Bleach London Swamp Spritz, which is essentially just supposed to add texture to your hair. Instead, it just makes it stick together and feel a bit funny. Again, not really ideal. But it looks cool in pictures, and that's all that matters, right?

Finally is the L'Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist, which I was really excited to try! This isn't bad, per se, but it's not great. If you don't shake it well enough, you'll get little white marks on your face that look like snow, and if you do shake it enough, your makeup will last probably the same time as it would without it. I didn't really notice much of a difference, but the cons of sometimes having white dots on my face is enough to land this in my unfavourites!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you didn't find it too negative!

  1. Love this post babe! You've inspired me to try out an 'unfavorites' post. I've found the infallible mist to be a bit of an overhyped product. Probably not worth the purchase in hindsight! x

  2. I found the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer not effective either! Hopefully one drugstore brand can get it right as I do like to save my money sometimes! 😕 Currently using Benefit the Porefessional and its working for me so far!

    1. Yeah, I hated that! I'm using the L'Oreal Infallible primer thing at the moment and it's okay...but not amazing! x

  3. Loveeee hearing about peoples unfavourites, I find it interesting I'm so nosey haha! I also use products that say they'll get rid of cellulite and of course they're all gimmicks but I couldn't help myself I just prayed for a miracle, I'm interested in the soap and glory firming product now you've mentioned it, can't wait for a review! I've also seen that MUA palette and always been intrigued by it but I didn't have high hopes that it would be that good. Sad to hear about the s&g makeup remover, I love the brand and their products, shame about this one not been so good!! Xxx

  4. I almost picked up the S&G make up remover but after reading this I'm glad I didn't! Doesn't sound very good. And I'm currently having a fight with the L'Oreal fixing spray - just wanting to like it but really unsure on it too! The white dots are so much effort to try get off

    1. Yay! I know right? I accidentally didn't shake it well enough and I literally had to scratch them off my skin like...that can't be doing it any favours!

  5. I've got the Soap and Glory makeup remover, and I completely agree with you, it takes ages to get everything off which is a pain! Great post! x

  6. I like that you did an unfavorites post. It's refreshing from usual favorites. I was tempted to get the L'Oreal spray, but seeing as you notice no difference, I'll save my pennies =p
