OUT WITH THE GOLD IN WITH THE SILVER

Saturday, 27 February 2016

If you'd have told me this time last year, I'd be posting about my love of silver, I would definitely have laughed in your face. I used to loathe silver hardware - I was all about the gold. I still really like gold, but there's something about silver and black and white that's really got me going at the moment. It also might have something to do with the fact that silver looks so good with my all time favourite colour, lilac. I thought I'd show you my fave pieces, and share the love. If you want to freshen up your wardrobe for spring and add a little sparkle, definitely consider adding silver!

It's really hard to find silver stuff at the moment, because everyone still really loves gold and rose gold. I'm definitely in the minority because I hate rose gold. But one thing that's super easy to find is silver jewellery! I'm trying to build up a solid jewellery collection of unique, pricier pieces (and by pricy I just mean not bought in Primark). In the picture above, I have got a set of Primark earrings I love and they were just £2 for 9 sets! A couple of the rings are from there too, but one is from Spitalfields Market in London, which I really love. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it in focus, but I will be featuring it in an outfit post next week! The big hunk of silver rock is from Oh My Clumsy Heart and it's really stunning and minimalistic which I love.

This ring I'm wearing on my thumb was kindly sent to me from Gemporia. It's made from sterling silver and is limited edition, which appealed to me! I love this because once again it's really minimalist, and the site itself has something for everyone (especially with Mother's Day coming up!). I don't usually wear thumb rings, but because this one was a little large for my other fingers, and it's quite chunky, I thought it looked best here.

These ankle boots are from New Look - but I bought them a few months ago so they don't stock them anymore. ASOS is really good for shoes like this, and the other pointed pumps in this post are from there. If you go into the Outlet section on the site too, you can get a really good discount on shoes!

Finally, after months and months of searching, I found a nice bag with silver hardware. I went into TK Maxx every week trying to find a decent brand because I wanted to invest in a bag, rather than buy any old one from the high street. Finally, I found the perfect bag by Fiorelli. It's structured a bit like an old doctor's bag and is really spacious inside, and overall, perfect for me!

What do you think? What's your fave colour hardware? Let me know down below!

  1. I love those boots! Before I read this I was like not feeling the silver thing, but I see your point now. It definitely looks fresh after years of gold overload.

PS Isn't it weird that it's TJ Maxx in the US and TK Maxx in the UK? WHY?????

  6. I prefer silver to gold too! The last one is just a bit too overrated.

  7. I LOVE silver hardware so I'm happy it's getting more attention. Sadly a lot of cool designs are still only lingering in silver. :/
