WHAT'S IN MY MAKEUP BAG - 2016

Saturday, 2 January 2016

To kick off this year I thought I'd show you what's in my makeup bag! Usually it's a lot more full of random lipsticks and whatnot, but these are the basics I use pretty much everyday. The bag itself is a really nice mesh one from ASOS, which was about £8.99. It does have a tendency to get a bit dirty though - but what makeup bags don't? However hard you try, makeup always gets dirty from other makeup. I don't even know how. Maybe it's just me. It's probably just me.

Anyway...here's a little overview of the few 'essentials' I can't leave the house without. I usually take a powder brush and a beauty blender too, just in case. I didn't picture those though because they were horrifically dirty.

The largest thing in my makeup bag is probably the Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow, which everyone in the entire beauty bloggersphere has heard of. I got this for my birthday in October and I use the 'sculpt' colour everyday without fail, usually with a Zoeva luxe cheek brush. However, I've recently decided I'm not a fan of the highlight - it just doesn't seem to show up on my skin. Maybe it's because it has kind of an orangey tone to it, and there doesn't seem to be much of a shimmer in it. So, I'm shopping about for a new one, if anyone has any recommendations!

Another staple piece is the Laura Mercier translucent powder. I absolutely adore this - it gives such a nice silky finish to my face. The only downside is it's a bit hard to apply, in the sense that getting it out of the tub is harder than usual with powders, but it's totally worth getting your black skinny jeans a little patchy for.

To the right of that are these adorable nail polish remover pads from Topshop for £2.50. These are really good at removing nail varnish, and they don't smell too bad - they have more of a jasmine scent. I definitely recommend picking these up for on the go, they're usually by the tills or where they keep the candy!

Beneath both is my YSL Touche √ąclat which I use to highlight under my eyes on most days. It's not a concealer though, so I have to use something else beneath it! Usually that will be my Collection Lasting Perfection, but I don't keep that in my bag as it's just really messy. I don't know how it happens but it's always caked around the lid!

I usually have Mac's Creme Cup or Modesty in my makeup bag, but not always, so I took them out for this post. The only constant is this Nars lipgloss, which is the definition of 'your lips but better'. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the shade name written on it and I've thrown away the box, but it's a beautiful baby pink - pretty hard to miss!

Eyelash glue! I usually have like 3 or 5 in my bag because I have so many lashes. I wear Eylure lashes everyday so this is essential for me, especially when I'm out and about, as I'm always paranoid my lashes will fall off (they never do).

Above it is a Diorshow Iconic Curl sample mascara, which I really like. However, I don't intend on buying the full version as a mascara is a mascara in my humble opinion. Plus, I use falsies on a daily basis, so I don't need to invest much in a mascara. If you love it though, you should definitely try out this one!

To the right is my holy grail eyeliner - Rimmel Glam Eyes. I wear winged liner most days, as I feel like I have small little piggy eyes without it. The applicator is a little brush which is quite thin so it gives a really precise line, it's jet black, and stays put for hours. Basically everything I want in an eyeliner.

I've been using this L'oreal Paris Infallible Mattifying Primer for months now, and whilst I do like it, I don't love it. It does make a massive difference to my base, but it's not quite up there as the best primer in my opinion. I can't find the best primer. That's now one of my new 2016 goals - I need a great primer!!

The L'oreal Brow Artist pencil is a new addition - I like this for precision, but I use it only as a supplement, to my Sleek brow kit in medium brown. I fill my eyebrows in with that powder, then define and darken with the Brow Artist. I'm really not happy with my eyebrows either, so there's another 2016 goals - get good brows!

Finally, my foundation. I use Nars Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc, but I will admit, it's a little orange for me. I love the formula and it's a great foundation so I would always recommend it. I'm going to try the Body Shop lightening drops at some point to see how they work out, as I can't justify buying this foundation a shade lighter just yet!

So, that's all that's in my makeup bag. Do we have any products in common?

  1. want this charlotte tilbury bronze and glow so bad - bit disappointed that you don't like the highlight as I've read a few reviews that say the same. Have yet to try any of her products! I recommend the naked flushed palette - in streak it's so pretty!

    1. I was disappointed too for the price! But I do love the contour shade so it's okay. It was my first CT product too but I really like the brand. Thanks! I'll check that out :) x

  2. Wearing Eylure lashes on a daily basis must cost you an absolute bomb!? I'm not sure I could wear falsies every day to be honest, but if I were to, I'd definitely look for a cheaper alternative! You can get packs of ten (pairs) of falsies in loads of different styles on eBay for about £2 and they're really good!
