THE FAKE TAN YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR

Wednesday, 22 April 2015

I am pale. Not pretty, porcelain, Snow-White/English Rose kinda pale - ghostly, pasty, "Are you sick?" kinda pale. And normally, I just live with it and try to embrace it. After 18 years, I've pretty much gotten used to it anyway. But now with summer right around the corner, and me taking an interest in fitness/working out, I've kind of inadvertently become addicted to fake tan.

I've tried a lot of drugstore tans but none have really compared to the Bondi Sands Self Tanning Lotion in light/medium. It really gives a natural brown tan, rather than giving you the unnatural orange tell-tale tinge, and it lasts on average, about 4-5 days for me. On the 5th day, I usually exfoliate and moisturise ready to start again on day 6, and the results so far have been great!

I prefer to apply this fake tan without a mitt - usually mitts leave me streaky and my skin dry (for some reason, mitts always feel so bloody rough and harsh on my skin?!). The obvious downside to this is brown palms, but with a bit of scrubbing/lemon juice you can get that off no problem. This tan is quite liquidy and requires a lot of rubbing in, which I think, is what makes it give a flaw free finish! It's not a gradual tan either, so it comes out quite dark, but don't let that put you off. It also offers handy instructions on how you can get different levels of tans - you can reapply this one after half an hour to get a deeper tan.

The two things I love most about this self tanner is the fact that it dries really quickly and also smells like coconuts - it's kind of like rubbing myself in Malibu (which I would obviously happily do on a daily basis). Don't get your hopes up though - it does smell like coconut on application, but the next morning, it still does smell a bit like fake tan - but not as strongly as other products.

You can pick this up in the UK exclusively from Superdrug for £11.99, and I would definitely recommend doing so.

Any other milky ladies out there have any great recommendations? I'd love to hear!

  2. I starting to consider fake tan for my pale skin, still trying to convince my self I won't turn out orange and smelling of biscuits. This lotion looks like it could be a great place to start, especially if it smells of coconut! :D
